Spomin XX. stoletja

Editorial Board: Oto Luthar, Tanja Petrović, Martin Pogačar
Period: since 2025

The aim of this series is to publish selected autobiographical accounts by individuals from all over south-east Europe, in particular by anonymous companions of the era. More than thirty years after the proclaimed “end of history",” we recognise the complex situation of the Yugoslav region, which is often treated as the periphery of Europe. The Yugoslavs were exposed to orientalist views, which continue to this day in economic relations and the migration of skilled labour. Even after the Second World War, differences in development between the republics came to light, which were reflected in different policies. However, we are more interested in personal experiences than in structures — how individuals accepted, rejected or helped to shape life in Yugoslavia. We believe that history cannot be understood without people's memories, which is why we are trying to collect fragments of these reflections. As the fates vary, so will be the rhythm of these publications — guided by the search for honest voices that renounce idolatry and any form of justification of power.
