This volume describes the life and work of Ljubljana’s mayor, politician, businessman and writer Ivan Hribar, who converted the Slovenian capital from a “long village” into a modern urban center. In addition, he was among the leaders of the neo-Slavic movement. Special attention is placed on his public and private biography, parliamentary activity, contacts with the Croats and business efforts, the developments during the First World War, his worldviews and views on normative issues, as well as his literary creativity. The volume thematizes the aspects of Hribar’s work that have not been sufficiently addressed to date.
