Monografija predstavlja rezultate celovite študije kalcitnega nanoplanktona iz badenijskih plasti Slovenskih goric. Iz več sto vzorcev z 22 posnetih profilov je določenih in opisanih 109 vrst nanofosilov, mnoge med njimi so nove za Slovenijo. Preučevani interval je v celoti uvrščen v srednji miocen. Odlična ohranjenost nanofosilov in velika diverziteta sta omogočili zelo natančno razdelitev obravnavanega intervala na 6 lokalnih intervalnih con, ki so korelirane z absolutno časovno lestvico (15,5–13,1 milijonov let) ter z globalnimi evstatičnimi cikli 3. reda (TB2.3, TB2.4 in TB2.5). Monografija vsebuje tudi podatke o sestavi vseh obravnavanih nanoplanktonskih združb in podaja paleoekološko analizo. Monografija je izčrpen prikaz taksonomije, biostratigrafije in paleoekologije miocenskega kalcitnega nanoplanktona v zahodnem delu Centralne Paratetide.
