Sing to Me, Sing, Falcon. Song heritage of the Uskoks in White Carniola.
Selected by:
Drago Kunej, Marko Terseglav
Year:
2010
The CD represents the folk song tradition of the Uskoks, who settled in Bela krajina at the end of the 16th century. The Uskok refugees assimilated into the Slovenian environment, but they retained part of their spiritual tradition, especially the Orthodox refugees. They preserve to this day a measure of historical memory and parts of Uskok song tradition. The selected songs of the Orthodox Uskoks come from the villages of Bojanci, Marindol, Miliči and Paunoviči, while those of the non-Orthodox Uskoks come from Preloka and Žuniči.
