Fritz Lang, the famous director of the 20th century, carefully staged both his own biography and his films. Fritz Lang: Ljutomer–Berlin–Hollywood is a graphic novel biography in which Lang recounts his turbulent life full of dramatic adventures, unexpected twists and turns, love affairs and, above all, films. He may be an unreliable narrator who likes to spice up and embellish his life, but his story reads and looks like an exciting movie. To make sure it's not just the director's version, his acquaintances, friends, colleagues, biographers, wives and lovers have their say on the less flattering sides of his controversial personality.

A special treat is that the Slovenian town of Ljutomer plays an important role in Lang's story  ̶  the place where the director spent half a year of his life as a young man, and the place from which he took the secret that fatefully shaped his path.

Lang is a brilliant, narratively dynamic and artistically innovative graphic novel that feels like it was made by a movie buff, and its power captivates even me, who otherwise has no interest in all that old crap.
