Alpine Textile Heritage: An Overview is a comprehensive exploration of the rich textile history, traditions, and innovations in the Alpine region, addressing the fragmented knowledge across local, regional, and national levels. Published by ZRC SAZU in collaboration with partners of Intrreg Alpine Space project AlpTextyles, the book offers a historical overview of the development of the textile industry, from prehistory to the present day. It also examines the production and use of wool, linen, and silk, highlighting traditional practices, contemporary applications, and the living intangible cultural heritage associated with textile production. By exploring aesthetics, costume heritage, and resource-sensitive traditions, it reveals how these elements can inspire modern circular practices. The research also shows how resource sensitivity rooted in local customs can inspire current circular practice, highlighting key milestones and traditional aspects of textile production to promote sustainability across the industry.
