Edited by: Marko Terseglav
Year: 2000

The Institute of Ethnomusicology became a working unit of the SAZU in 1972, but began its work as early as 1934, making it the oldest institute of the ZRC SAZU. At the same time, it is one of the oldest institutes of its kind in the Balkans and one of the oldest in Europe. Its work, innovations, initiatives and scientific discoveries have earned it an excellent international reputation. This brochure is intended to provide a cross-section of the Institute's 65 years of research into Slovenian folklore. It describes the founding of the Institute, its development and the work of the individual departments. It also presents the Institute's staff, their work and a selected bibliography.
